ROAD BUILDING PRODUCTS
Bright at night and fluorescent during the day, Reflexite materials enhance both the daytime and nighttime visibility of traffic control devices used for roadway construction, maintenance and traffic incident management.
Motorists rely on “channelizing” devices to guide them safely through temporary work zones, both day and night. Brightly visible reflective traffic control devices help to prevent crashes, especially after dark, when 60 percent of fatalities occur.
End-of-road barricades can be made twice as effective by replacing glass bead technology material with Reflexite’s prismatic High Performance Barricade Sheeting. The Reflexite sheeting is capable of withstanding severe impacts and still retroreflect, making sure that the barricade remains visible to oncoming motorists. This product is designed for applications requiring high reflectivity, impact resistance, long outdoor life and wide entrance angularity.
Traffic cones that have Reflexite prismatic cone collars ensure that drivers will benefit from the greatest visibility possible when navigating an alternate route or construction zone. This high visibility, weather resistant sheeting is designed for use on reflectorized traffic cones as described in the Federal Highway Administration’s MUTCD, Part 6C-3.
Abrasion resistant delineation sheeting from Reflexite is brilliantly retroreflective at night and can be seen most commonly on guardrail markings. Reflexite delineation sheeting is used for reflectors that are mounted on guardrails, barriers and delineator posts.
Tubular post channelizing devices utilizing Reflexite sheeting offer reflective visibility that significantly exceeds glass-bead technology products. Reflexite sheeting offers the motorist the longest sight detection available for delineation. Studies have shown that long-distance site detection is beneficial since it provides motorists more time to see the device and react, thus improving road safety.
As the inventor of the reflective Super Bright Roll-Up Sign, we understand the importance of crashworthy traffic control devices on the roadway. With the advent of the NCHRP Report 350, consumers have become increasingly aware of the need for crashworthy traffic control devices. The report recommends procedures for evaluating the safety performance of various highway safety systems. The report requires that when a car strikes a safety device, the device not penetrate the occupant’s windshield (which places the occupant at a much greater risk of injury).
Reflexite’s line of roll-up sign sheeting products offers users a choice for meeting/exceeding the requirements set forth in NCHRP 350. These products offer exceptional daytime (fluorescent) and nighttime visibility, and are designed to make the finished signs easy to set up, transport and store. Reflexite roll-up sign blanks are manufactured using fabric reinforced vinyl prismatic retroreflective sheeting.
